Dear (outfit) Diary,
Love Chainky

Na Chainkua Reindorf, also known as Chainky, is all we want to be rn. She’s a full time artist with a deep interest in West African textiles and incorporates different aspects relating to textile culture into her art practice. In her free time, she enjoys visiting art museums, galleries and art fairs. That’s also where she finds inspiration for her wardrobe. And further on inspire us, ofc. Here’s a week of her life in outfits, bc we all need it. You’re welcome.

A few months ago, I created a virtual mood board (via Instagram saved folders) of what my ideal summer wardrobe would look like using the clothes that I own. Let’s call it wishful thinking considering the fact that this summer is going to be very far from ‘normal’ due to a pandemic and a global fight for racial equality. Creating saved folders on Instagram is something I like to do as a form of escapism, and I noticed that I was saving and liking a whole lot of greens, yellows, oranges and creams. This inspired me to plan my next months’ worth of Instagram posts incorporating those colors into my feed.

My ‘7 days, 7 looks’ features a good number of the looks I have planned for my upcoming posts which is great, because in a way I got to live
out my ideal summer in a week (at home).

Monday

My partner and I received this gorgeous rug today, and it is ridiculously comfortable. I realized that this dress paired quite nicely with the rug so here I am lounging on the rug, in lieu of the glaringly obvious lack of furniture.

Dress, Loeil

Tuesday

I absolutely love pairing crop tops with longer skirts and pants and have increasingly found that bikini tops make great crop tops. I was particularly pleased with this outfit because I noticed quite recently that the patterns on both the skirt and the bikini top complement each other perfectly.

Bikini Top, Solid and Striped
Skirt, 3.1 Phillip Lim
Sandals, Birkenstock x Proenza Schouler

Wednesday

I’m very excited about this dress. I searched for it for months before I finally found it in my size, and I am really looking forward to featuring it on my Instagram page very soon.

Dress, Ganni

Thursday

I wore this to take a walk around the block from some fresh air. And yes, I definitely wore a mask.

Friday

This dress belongs on a white sandy beach and with a fruity cocktail on hand.  In the mean time, I am just going to walk around the house in it and drink a fruity cocktail. I’ll use my imagination for the beach.

Dress, Jacquemus

Saturday

I had a lot of reading and research to do today for my art project, so I decided to go for a chill, relaxed look. This is a light and airy top and pant set that, when paired together, looks like a jumpsuit. I love how versatile it is.

Top & Pants, Simonett

Sunday

Back to reality! I dedicated this day to working on art, so I chose my comfiest clothes which happen to be sweats and a tank top with Birkenstock’s.
