A new (fashion) year has just begun, and as autumn’s cropped cashmere cable knits and shearling coats are squeezed onto countless discount racks, we gaze towards spring and breathe in the new season’s trends. Now let’s make something very clear, trends are NOT there to be blindly followed. We DO however want to stay informed and aware. So, with that said, welcome to the second part of our SS23 Trend Guide! We hope you are just as excited as we are.
Part Two: Post-Isolation Party
– the longing for office wear & parties
After years of isolation and restrictions we look forward to a year out in the open! We say goodbye to coordinated sweatsuits, PJ’s and slippers and welcome a new era of dressing up!
Going back to our workplaces, we are inspired by classic office wear. Pencil skirts, pinstripes, crisp shirts, Mary Jane shoes, oversized suits, and those blazer coats seen at Prada. The bold ones add a tie as icing on the cake.
Years of postponed weddings canceled holidays, and birthday parties are now exploding in an array of party wear! Sequins and metallics are huge for SS23, worn to parties but also paired down with a sweatshirt or blazer and worn during day. We already know that those rhinestone Chanel slingbacks will be huge, and the smart ones go vintage shopping for Paco Rabanne asap.
Welcome to the year of lingerie dressing! Anything sheer or lace trimmed is ON, and the cropped top shrinks to a bra. Prada, Miu Miu and Nensi Dojaka leads the trend, Bottega’s rhinestone nightgowns are to die for and those deconstructed silky dresses at Loewe will def be seen on celebrities come spring. Tricky to wear? Just layer it underneath a blazer or shirt and you’re good to go.
One can’t make a SS23 trend list without mentioning the it-moment of the season – Coperni’s spray- on dress for model Bella Hadid. It cemented bodycon and seamless fit as the trend of the season.
Bottega Veneta
Jil Sander
If your heart didn’t skip a beat when seeing those fringe looks from Jil Sander, I don’t know what did. Bottega also continues working with the trend from fall with its knit jacquard dresses and covered gowns. This is really the statement-look of the season!
Bottega Veneta
Dries Van Noten
We think we can rightfully say, after years of comfort and sneakers, that the representative symbol of 2023 will be the high heels. Any shape or form, just make sure you wear them.
