The Great Return of Phoebe Philo
Listen up all Philophiles! Your queen will see you now (or in January 2022 to be specific).

This am I took my usual morning scroll through the exciting world of cyber to see what’s new since I left last night and wasn’t expecting much except for vacation pictures and quotes on last nights European Championship. It did not take many minutes before my morning brain started to register the same story on every fashion-girls Instagram story: The Great Phoebe Philo is making her way back into fashion with her own label.
Céline Spring Summer 2018
Of course, this has been everyone’s hope and expectation even, although the 3 year long silence since her exit from Céline has made people a bit anxious. She is coming back!!! right??
So what do we know so far?
We do know that Phoebe herself will be the majority owner of her own clothing and accessories label “rooted in exceptional quality and design.” But the French luxury group LVMH has taken a minority stake, a move surely based on her success with Céline (which they also own, along with a long list of other luxury brands.) The launch is planned for January 2022, but no exact dates has been set.
“Being in my studio and making once again has been both exciting and incredibly fulfilling,” Philo told The Business of Fashion. “I am very much looking forward to being back in touch with my audience and people everywhere. To be independent, to govern and experiment on my own terms is hugely significant to me.”
What remains to see now is, will Phoebe Philo be able to fight her former co-worker at Old Céline, Daniel Lee and his New Bottega? Who’s bringing the popcorn for this battle of the giants?
