I Recreated 8 Looks From The Row’s Spring 2021 Collection Using Only 12 Pieces

You know how I feel like I am in a style rut? I wrote about it here. I feel like a big part of the fashion industry is feeling the exact same way. And what to do you when you feel a bit lost? Getting back to basic is a good start. And many of the most-watched brands did. Call it minimalism, norm core, modern luxury or whatever you want. With key pieces like androgyne suits, oversized shirts, chinos, and pullovers, nothing really felt new, but it felt safe. And with everything going on in the world right now (maybe my most written sentence ever 2020?) I have come to appreciate it. I feel as if the fashion industry is agreeing because Instagram could not wait to declare its love for it too.

One of the most shared collections from SS21 was The Row. Fotographed analogously against a white naked background the clothes both felt entirely new and something I have seen many times before. It made me feel inspired and sheltered from yet another thing I have to adjust to. Like meeting an old friend on the street and catching up without promising to get that coffee sometime you never end up getting.

I browsed the lookbook a few times and then I took a look at my own wardrobe only to realize I could recreate at least 8 looks with pieces (most of them being vintage) I already owned.

A suit with the blazer tucked into the trousers styled with a belt. As simple as that.

This may not be inventing the wheel but this look might be the sartorial version of warm milk. Soothing and nice.

I feel like my grandfather would have loved this look. And most of the collection. He was the king of knitted wool vests and loved his chinos wide and fluttery.
