To socialize or talk informally preferably over a drink. Word forms: 3rd person singular present tense hobnobs, present participle hobnobbing, past tense, past participle hobnobbed.
But honestly. Hobnob is a safe space for women who prefer iced coffee over a perfectly curated wardrobe. It’s is a daycare center for women who are intrigued by trends, but also don’t care. It is an open bar for those who swear on vintage Chanel and whose pension funds hang in their closets.
When you think of something very ordinary, I imagine Chanel isn’t the first thing that comes to you mind? Still, the iconic Chanel N° 5 scent has been a part of millions of women’s ordinary life for a hundred years now. In celebration of Coco’s Chanel Number 5 fragrance 100th birthday, Chanel is now launching a birthday collection inspired by everyday-life. Shower gel in buckets, bath tablets in tea tins and body oils in burettes to only mention a few, are ordinary things we see everyday but not necessarily associate with luxury. But then again, what is luxury?
Thomas du Pre de Saint Maur, Chanel’s head of global creative resources fragrance and beauty tells the story of the collection like this
“N°5 subverts everyday objects and demonstrates once again that luxury is also in the experience that we have of things. By giving these objects the N°5 identity, they become luxurious, iconic products, while keeping their own designs. By reusing these everyday objects, N°5 has subverted their functions, demonstrating once again that luxury is in the experience we have of things. Dressing these objects with the N°5 identity, they become luxurious, iconic products, while keeping their own designs. Taking everyday products allows for a less intimidating approach and creates new opportunities for daily exposure to the absolute wonder that is N°5.”
Need I say that all the products smell Chanel N°5?
The 100th years celebratory collection will be available in a limited edition.
