Now is the time to be strategic with your money. A lot of people and companies are counting on us to place our holiday money with them, but make sure to put them right. Whether it is a Christmas gift for yourself, a family member, or a friend.

I read somewhere that one order to make a difference one should consider only buy gifts from companies that burst into a WOHO at every sale this holiday season and I could not agree more. That will be my only resolution this year.

This upcoming month Hobnob Journal will be doing a series of Christmas Wish Lists within different categories, with independent businesses to shop right now. Here is our list of a few independent fashion designers to shop this Christmas.

MaisonCléo

Something to wear to all the parties you will be attending when everything is over

If you are not familiar with french made-to-order brand Maison Cléo we suggest you visit their Instagram account. But for all of you who already are, and know how hard it is to get your hands on a piece from Cléo, click your way over to Net-a-Porter where the collab between Cléo and NAP are selling out fast.

RUS the Brand

Something to wear until you can wear all the things you want to wear when everything is over

We are probably looking to spend some more time at home next year before being able to reconnect with society. Some new lounge-wear that easily translates to loungeleisure post-pandemic is never a bad idea for a gift.

Louis Abel

Something to wear every day.

Accessories are to me one of the best gifts one can both give and receive. Accessories never fail by size. Accessories are something one can never have enough of. Accessories don’t take up too much space. Our favorite independent designer Louis Abel makes accessories that start conversations. The best kind.

Hope Macaulay

Something to smile about.

Made-when-ordered, these Hope Macaulay knits, won’t make it in time for Christmas but the one who waits for something good never waits in vain, no? Order it for someone you love and make a card.

Romualda

Instant mood booster whenever and wherever you are.

Everyone in Hobnob’s editorial team loves hats and for good reason. Giving away a hat this Christmas is like giving the gift of no bad hair days. What a gift???

Casatlantic

Something to give a male in your family only to steal it from him.

Made in Casablanca, but designed and founded in Gothenburg, Sweden, Casatlantic makes the best trousers I have seen in a long time. I want to wear them, but I also want all the men I know to wear them. Oh, and they just launched all their three styles in two new colors, navy and khaki. A very good gift.

Rua Carlota

Something made out of deadstock.

Something that started as a personal project for designer Charlotte Rose Kirkham quickly turned into something a bit more up-scaled. London based Rua Carlota make clothes out of unwanted fabric and turn actual waste into clothes. Choose between shorts, sweaters, tank tops, and trousers but be quick because not only is every piece one of a kind, they also sell out fast as Christmas fudge.
